🫁 Feel Grounded & Calm With These 5 Breathing Techniques 😮‍💨

There’s no doubting the powerhouse that is our breath. With more awareness we can cultivate a calmer state of being quickly anywhere, anytime.

We can quite literally influence our state of being and nervous system by changing the way we breathe. Here at Havanna Wellness we have become fascinated at this area of health and encourage you to try some of the practices below. There is so much more to breath than what we realise. The fact that we can change the physiology of our body, alter our state of being and access different parts of our brain through breath is simply incredible. 

Here are 3 different techniques we’ve found really helpful on our wellness journeys that help induce a restful ‘parasympathetic’ state in our being. It’s a great idea to do one of these before eating to ensure your body knows it’s safe to rest and digest your meal leading to better absorption and assimilation of nutrients.

If our bodies are stressed blood is shuttled away from our digestive organs and into our peripheral bodies to literally run from the tiger, even though the stress may be an email! Our bodies don’t differentiate this! The below ideas are quick, simple and free. Enjoy. 

✅ 4/8 - breathe in for 4 seconds and out for 8 seconds

✅ Box Breathing - In for 5, hold for 5, out for 5, hold for 5

✅ Alternative Nostril Breathing - In L, out R, in R, out the L
