Minimise and Manage Stress 😰

Stress is something we inevitably experience in life. Knowledge is also powerful (if we use it!) and we’re wanting to share our knowledge around the hot topic of stress. There are three main stressors we experience.

1. Environmental stress such as toxins in our homes, the air we breathe and products we lather on our skin.

2. Emotional stress through painful life events such as divorce and death. 

3. Physical stress through poor nutrition, gastrointestinal permeability or parasitic infections. 

We are constantly working on all three areas personally and with our clients and what we’ve realised throughout our lives and careers is that you never just arrive there and be done. The simple act of getting outside into nature is such an incredible tool for calming our nervous system. This is one of the main reasons we created Havanna Wellness, a place that supported peace. We needed it personally and we knew others would also. 

When we are in a state of sympathetic nervous dominance our biochemistry changes and our blood supply is taken away from our digestive system and sent to our peripheries ready to power us to get out of danger. Our poor bodies don’t know the difference between being constantly chased by a tiger or constantly rushing through life with endless to do lists. Stress management is something we’ve become increasingly mindful of and aware of. We are always looking at ways to support our clients and ourselves to reduce physical, chemical and emotional stress. All of these types of stress knock the body so far out of balance.

During my time in clinical practice I have met lots of people who have lost the ability to use fat as fuel because they are always relying on their glucose due to stress hormone production.
